A native of the Pacific Northwest, Dayna L. Jones has lived in San Antonio, Texas since 2004. Dayna graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelors degree in International Studies with a focus on Law and Diplomacy. She also holds a minor in Political Science. She grew up studying French while in school and while in college began studying Spanish as well. During college, she spent a semester studying at the Tec de Monterrey in Cuernavaca, Mexico. In 2004 she moved to Texas to attend Law School at St. Mary’s University. During law school she clerked for Goldstein, Goldstein & Hilley, was a member of the External Advocacy Program’s Trial Team and wrote for the Scholar Law Review. This experience during law school developed a passion for criminal defense, trial and appellate work. Upon graduating from law school, Dayna was awarded the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association Scholarship for her work and dedication to criminal defense.

A large portion of her practice is dedicated to post-conviction work such as appeals and writs of habeas corpus. She has argued appellate cases in the Fourth Court of Appeals in San Antonio, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in Dallas, Thirteenth Court of Appeals in Corpus Christi, and in the Court of Criminal Appeals in Austin.

She is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association and the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyer’s Association. Dayna is also on the Board of the San Antonio Bar Association’s Appellate Law group. Dayna has also presented to other lawyers at continuing legal education seminars on the topics of writs of habeas corpus and appeals. She is licensed in the State of Texas and in the Western and Southern District of Texas.
