Located between San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Bee County’s economy is based on agriculture, farming, ranching, oil, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The TDCJ maintains a training academy in Beeville, which is the county seat. Beeville is also home to Coastal Bend College, a community college that boasts a glass-blowing lab in its art department. Nature lovers and hunters are attracted to the multitude of wildlife and outdoor recreational activities.
The Honorable David Silva is currently serving as the county judge. The county courthouse is located at 105 West Corpus Christi, Beeville (361-362-3260). There are four Justice of the Peace precincts.
